HISTORY
Since its inception in 1990, One Call Concepts
Locating Services, Inc. (OCCLS) has provided services
to the telecommunications, electric, gas, cable
TV, water and sewer industries. We have also provided
services to municipalities, airports, government
agencies, hospitals, universities, and private
underground facility owners. Our service area,
while centered in the Mid-Atlantic region, has
included areas in the South, Mid-West and Eastern
Canada.
Beginning in the early 1990’s, our original
focus was in the telecommunication’s industry.
We rapidly expanded into the gas and electric
markets and doubled the size of the company in
a very short time. We earned a reputation as a
straight-forward company that did what it said
it was going to do and enjoyed the confidence
and support of our customers as we grew.
In the mid 1990’s we expanded our service
areas to include Texas, Virginia, areas of the
Mid-West and Canada. During this very competitive
time in the underground locating marketplace,
our progress was fueled by building on our growing
reputation for quality locating services.
Towards the end of the 1990’s, the underground
damage prevention market was dramatically changing.
There was significant consolidation of the larger
service providers and this led to a tightening
of the pricing model in the industry. Lowest price
began to become the leading factor in the procurements
decision process. OCCLS made a conscious decision
not to be a competitor in the lowest price market.
We concentrated on those utility partners that
still valued a quality service.
Today, we are a smaller but more focused quality
service provider. We are rarely the lowest priced
provider in the competitive market. Our core competency
is in understanding our customers’ needs,
meeting or exceeding their expectations, and always
doing what we say we are going to do. No games,
no smoke and mirrors, just getting the job done
– day in and day out.
